Bibb County, Georgia

According to the 2000 Census, Bibb County, Georgia has a population of 153,887 people. Of those, 77,147 (50%) are White, 72,818 (47%) are Black, and 2,023 (1%) are Latino[1]. However, 1,664 (or 1% of the 153,887 people) are not residents by choice but are people in prison.

Even though prisoners cannot participate in the local community, the Census Bureau nevertheless counts them as residents of the county where they are incarcerated.

A more accurate description would not include the prisoners. This would give Bibb County a population of 152,223 with a demographic that is 50% White, 47% Black, and 1% Latino.
