Bobby Cuza on NY1 is doing an excellent 4 part series on gerrymandering in New York State called “Crooked Lines”.
The first part, For State Lawmakers, Job Security Lies Within The (District) Map mentions prison-based gerrymandering indirectly. The second part State’s Redistricting Called Into Question discusses the movement for redistricting reform, and the 3rd part directly addresses prison-based gerrymandering: State’s Prison Population Becomes Political Pawn.
Many of the leaders of redistricting and prison-based gerrymandering reform are cited in the series including Senator Schneiderman, Assemblyperson Jeffries, Susan Lerner of Common Cause, Dick Dadey of Citizen’s Union and Myrna Perez of the Brennan Center for Justice. Each segment is about 2 minutes long.
